Review:
Manhattan is a slow burn, friends-to-lovers, small town romance. Kandi did an amazing job developing her characters and showing their growth as the story unfolded. Mikey was frustrating at times but given his age it was understandable- to a degree. The story had that new adult feel for that reason (characters' young age). Frustrations aside, it was still so easy to grow to love his character. Kylie was kind, caring, and loyal, and her feelings for Mikey were unwavering. The dedication to someone who sometimes seemed on a different wavelength, and for so long, could be frustrating, but at the same time it was sweet how big her heart was. I loved watching her confidence grow, and seeing her come into herself. I enjoyed the ride as their story developed and by the epilogue I was satisfied with the direction their journey and their relationship was headed. This isn't the end of The Becker's though, I'll be waiting to catch up with these characters again in Jordan's book, Old Fashioned.
