She’s annoying as hell.

Quirky.

She’s a game to him, nothing more.

Until his arch rival comes after him and the few people he cares about ... and Felicity gets caught in the crossfire.

Review:

After reading the first book in the Rixon Raiders series I was hooked and excited to read the next book. The Game You Play featured all the characters from book one and focused on characters Felicity and QB1, Jason. Felicity was a kind, quirky, and likable character, though there were moments I felt she took too much crap and needed to stand up for herself. Jason felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders, and he was a right douche because of it. As his character motivations and thoughts were explored, I began to understand his feelings and where they came from- to a point. Even with that new insight he was still more of a jerk than necessary and some of his actions were inexcusable. It took me a while to warm to his character. The book was addictive though, so even when I wasn't completely taken with the characters, I was still engrossed in their story. Jason and Felicity slept together once in New York, and suddenly the guy who liked variety with no attachment, started catching some feelings he didn't want to acknowledge. I felt the draw, the lust and connection, but I really wanted a deeper look at why things changed between them. They knew each other before, what was the defining moment (other than sleeping together) that made Flick suddenly so different in Jason's eyes? As their "relationship" progressed I enjoyed some of the will-they-won't-they and push and pull vibes. The journey was full of drama and angst. The pacing slowed a little from the 60-80% mark but quickly picked up again at that point and carried on steady right to the end. If you love New Adult/YA Romance, an arrogant hero, or the enemies-to-lovers trope, check this one out. The Game You Play does pick up right after The Trouble with You, so it is my suggestion to read the series in written order even though the series is marketed as standalone novels. I am looking forward to reading Asher's book next!
