Natalie, a young art student in New York City, is struggling to pay her bills when a friend makes a suggestion: Why not go online and find a sugar daddy—a wealthy, older man who will pay her for dates, and even give her a monthly allowance? Lots of girls do it, Nat learns. All that’s required is to look pretty and hang on his every word. Sexual favours are optional. Though more than thirty years her senior, Gabe, a handsome corporate finance attorney, seems like the perfect candidate, and within a month, they are madly in love. At least, Nat is…Gabe already has a family, whom he has no intention of leaving. So when he abruptly ends things, Nat can’t let go. She begins drinking heavily and stalking him: watching him at work, spying on his wife, even befriending his daughter, who is not much younger than she is. But Gabe’s not about to let his sugar baby destroy his perfect life. What was supposed to be a mutually beneficial arrangement devolves into a nightmare of deception, obsession, and, when a body is found near Gabe’s posh Upper East Side apartment, murder.

R E V I E W :

The Arrangement was an addictive read that kept me turning the pages well into the night. It is the first book that I have read by Robyn Harding, and I enjoyed her writing style and would happily read another thriller by her in the future. The first two thirds of the story focused around plot and character development and then the last third of the book was where we got the real sense of mystery and suspense. Main characters Natalie and Gabe were not completely likable, but that didn't alter my enjoyment of the story. The arrangement of their sugar daddy/sugar baby "relationship" was interesting, and the author had me on edge just waiting to witness the breakdown I knew was coming. When the fallout came, each character began to spiral in their own way. It was known based on the plot description that someone would end up murdered, but the question was who, and by whom? It was at this point that a few twists and surprises finally came into play, and the suspense was steadily building. The final twist reveal for me was predictable, so it lacked shock value, but I was still satisfied with the conclusion overall and how everything played out. All-in-all this was an intriguing plot and a quick read. If you are interested in a sugar baby vs. sugar daddy story of lust, obsession, and deception, add The Arrangement to your reading list today.
