New Release Review: Then He Happened by Claudia Burgoa

Then He Happened was at times pleasing, and it had some funny moments, but there were a few important elements of the story that didn't quite work for me. Separately the main characters were likable, but I didn't fall in love with them completely. Their families on the other hand- namely Eileen's- were not likable in the least. It was amazing how long Eileen tolerated their treatment of her. It did cause for some frustration- for the character and myself. The romance between Jason and Eileen was very slow burning- very. The author took time to build the flirty friendship, but that giddy anticipation was missing for me when it came to the romance. That need for them to finally come together didn't happen. I think it's because of this that I didn't entirely invest in the romantic relationship. In the end, this wasn't my favorite story from Claudia Burgoa, but I've loved many of her books so I'll be waiting happily for the next one.
