Review (New Release): Barefoot Pastures, Book 2 by Lili Mahoney
My Thoughts:
Barefoot Pastures is a young adult quartet with a touch of romance woven into the story. This installment is book 2 of 4, and while I'm sure you could read it on its own, it is my recommendation that you read the series in order. Tory is back and she's as feisty and strong-willed as ever! Rusty and riding are still her top priorities, but she is slowly beginning to explore and expand her social circle. Lili Mahoney has done a great job developing Tory's character from book one to present time. We've seen her grow and mature and sometimes we even catch her showing her more tender side when it comes to Jake. She still has some growing to do, but that what makes her a realistic character; she has flaws. Jake continues to be what I feel is a perfect balance for Tory. He's patient, sweet, responsible, and always looking out for Tory's best interest- even when she gives him Hell for it! They have a fun dynamic, and I love the continuous banter between them. We got to know a bit more about Jake's family in this installment, and I'm hopeful that in the next book we'll have further exploration of his home life and history. Overall this was an entertaining read. I enjoy the light feel and the realistic and relatable way the lives of the characters are portrayed and played out. I look forward to seeing what life has in store for Tory, Jake and of course the beloved horse, Rusty in the future. Looking forward to part 3!

About the Book:
Competing is Tory’s life, but when the unexpected happens and it keeps you off your horse, it means you refocus your energy. It also means that when the time is right, you have to battle hard to get back to the top.
