Contemporary Romance Review: It Started with a Lie by Lisa Suzanne
IT STARTED WITH A LIE, part one of the Truth and Lies Duet, is hitting kindles everywhere today.
If you haven't grabbed a copy yet, it's priced at only 99 cents for a limited time.
You don't have to read the A Little Like Destiny series in order to enjoy this duet, but I did read it. I had strong feelings of dislike towards Brian Fox at the end of that series so when Lisa announced this duet I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I thought, "can it be done? Can Brian become a character I fall in love with?" To put it plainly, Brian is an asshole. He's entitled, immature, has high expectations, and carries around a lot of anger. Was he all bad? No. Did he show some growth and maturity over time? Yes.
Thankfully.
Lisa did a great job putting him on the path to redemption. I finally began to understand his motivations and what drove him a little more. I'm holding on to hope that in the second part of the duet he'll be fully redeemed in my eyes! He's definitely grown on me but I don't quite love him yet lol. When it came to the romance, I thought Vivian and Brian had the perfect spark. Even with the back and forth push and pull, those two were fire. But then there was that big whopper of a cliffhanger! That shocker left me eyes wide and seriously on edge, just itching to get the rest.
I look forward to finding out what's in store for these characters and I'm glad we won't have to wait long for the conclusion!
