Review: The Rancher's Baby by Maisey Yates

I enjoyed reading The Rancher’s Baby by Maisey Yates. It was a fairly short, quick and sweet read. It is part of the Texas Cattleman’s Club: The Impostor series, where each novel is written by a different author.

Knox and Selena are two friends with painful pasts, reunited again. The sexual tension between them was obvious; they had great chemistry. Their apprehension to commit fully, or to even want to acknowledge their feelings for each other was very believable and understandable. It was much easier for them to try and remain ‘just friends.’ I could sense their feelings growing as they spent more time together, and I was just waiting for them to give into their desire to be together. Once they did, there was some push and pull, but in the end there was healing and love, and moving forward.

I only wish there was further exploration into the mystery we are presented with in the beginning of the story. Selena’s dead-but-apparently-not-so ex-husband is alive. What happened during his disappearance? Who wrote the letters to each woman in attendance at his funeral, stating they were the one to inherit his estate? This mystery is the very reason Knox goes to stay with Selena- for her protection and safety. Nothing was solved and I still had a ton of questions in the end. Perhaps ALL books in the series must be read to get the full story about certain happenings??

I love the friends-to-lovers trope, and this one was quite cute and emotional. I’m interested in reading the rest of the series to hopefully complete the mystery and find out who The Impostor is!
