Synopsis

Ben

We met five years ago when I was her family’s bodyguard. Our time together was a secret.

Her touch was different…. addictive. I fell hard and fast and then I left.

I’ve thought about her every day since.

As I sit here at a wedding watching her with her new boyfriend……I have regrets.

Regrets for the past things I’ve done. But I won’t regret what I’m about to do.

She's telling me no but her body's telling me yes.

I need her beneath me. I’m having her tonight.

Bridget.

It’s the little things I remember about Ben. His smile and the icing sugar he had on his pancakes.

What started out as private jokes between us soon turned into private visits.

The quiet man at the back of the crowd.

His dry wit made me laugh. His dominant body ruined me forever

He never told me he loved me, until he was leaving. That was five years ago.

Things are looking up for me. I met someone, someone special.

But Ben is back.

I find myself thinking about him ......more than I should. No matter how hard my heart is freefalling from my chest.

I will never go back there.

You only get to break my heart once.

Review

Marx Girl is a standalone novel but the characters are a part of the Stanton World. Although you can read this one on it’s own, I highly recommend reading the Stanton books because they are deliciously sexy, captivating reads! Ben was a great alpha male character. I liked him, and if you love alpha males, I bet you will too. He’s the complete package- manly, strong, attractive, possessive and dominant. He loved Didge (Bridget) and he was back to prove to her that she was his, and he’d never leave her again. He’s met with resistance at first, but soon she no longer has a bf in the way, and she can’t deny that she wants him just as much as he wants her. When that happens, their chemistry is explosive. Tee knows how to write a smoking hot sex scene! I loved how well they fit together. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Didge. I didn’t hate her character, but I didn’t really like her either. She frustrated me. I felt like there were too many back and forth moments with her and Ben in the beginning. I also didn’t like that when Ben finally opened up and shared stuff with her about his past- things he never told ANYONE else- she so freely told people in her family or within their friend circle, without making sure he was comfortable sharing his pain with others. On a side note, Eric (Didge’s ex) went after Joshua and Ben, reopening an investigation from the past...but then nothing was spoken about that again?? Seeing as it went nowhere, I feel like that drama could have just been left out. Other then that, the suspense and action aspect of the book was great. Marx Girl wasn’t my favourite of TL Swan’s novels, but it was still a story that held my interest. There were things that worked for me, and there were a few things that did not. I’d say, if you are a fan of HOT alpha males, this is one you definitely want to check out!
