Review: Coming Altered by Renee Harless
Coming Altered is book 4 in the Welcome to Carson Series and it can be read as a stand-alone. It’s a quick and easy read and a fine addition to the series. Harlan Jax is the guitarist for the famous rock band, Exoneration. As a Rock-star, I was anticipating the ‘bad boy with a good heart underneath’ kind of vibe from him, but surprisingly he was just all kinds of sweet and charming- not that that’s a bad thing, I was just expecting a bit of edge. He was a caring and protective man, and I did like that about him. Strong, capable, independent and hard-working. These are qualities that I love the heroine to have in a novel and Cassidy Connelly ticked each box. She's a successful fashion designer, not looking for love, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t going to find her. Harlan and Cassidy meet and share one explosive night together, no strings. But after this night, they each come to realize that the other has left a permanent impression. After thinking of each other for months, their paths unexpectedly cross again and very quickly sparks fly. I thought Cassidy and Harlan made a good team. They fit well together. They had a natural chemistry, and just sort of slid effortlessly into a relationship as if they’d known each other longer than the one passionate night. Coming Altered was a pleasant read. The romance between Cassidy and Harlan is one readers will root for, and the plot twist is one I’d guess many won’t see coming. If you’re in the mood for a sweet read with minimal angst and a bit of suspense, Coming Altered is a good choice.
