Review: OPEN HEARTS by Eve Dangerfield
This is the follow-up to Locked Box, which I have not yet read, and it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone.
Ash is done waiting for a man to sweep her off her feet so that they can get married, have babies, and live happily ever after. She’s a smart, sexy and hard-working woman, and she has decided to have a baby on her own- using a sperm donor and IVF. But, then she meets Dean- her sister’s boyfriend’s best-friend- one night in a bar. After that first sexual encounter, they both cannot stop thinking about the other. Dean comes across as instantly smitten while Ash tries to hold him at arms length, convinced she’s only interested in further sexual gratification.
Honestly, it took me some time to warm up to Ash, she treated Dean kind of crappy for a while and at times she came across as a bit cold. Dean on the other hand, although scatter-brained and a bit of a bone-head, I couldn’t help but find him endearing. He was just so generous and kind, right down to his very core. Their chemistry was sizzling and as I grew to like Ash more I began rooting for them to become a real long-haul couple!
This is the first novel that I have read by Eve Dangerfield and I wouldn’t hesitate to check out her other work. Open Hearts was witty, charming and sexy!
