Review: "Moments of Beauty," by J. B. Heller
JB Heller has delivered yet another engaging read that really pulled on my heart strings. Her words consumed me and her characters stole my heart.
Huxley, oh how I wanted to scoop him up and wrap my arms around him. Hux saw himself as invisible/insignificant and wanted to remain that way until he graduated and could get away from his current life. Every time he put himself down, repeating the nasty words of someone who is supposed to love him, my heart ached a little more for him. In walks Eliza, and no matter how hard he tried to convince her that she could do better than him, she refused to listen.
Eliza was a girl who put on a front for everyone else, but found it easy to be herself with Hux, she wanted to be herself with him. While on the surface they appeared as two people who couldn’t be any more different, their true selves really did fit together like perfectly placed puzzle pieces. I loved them together.
This novel was beautifully written, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. JB Heller’s story shows moments of ugly, moments of sadness, moments of love and as the perfectly chosen title states, moments of beauty. Well done JB Heller, I’ll be on the lookout for your next release.
