MY REVIEW

The Little Mermaid is one of my top three favorite Fairytales! Katy Regnery has successfully written a touching and charming modern day re-telling of this classic tale.

The two main characters, Laire and Erik, were very sweet and lovable. I must admit though, I was not a fan of the name Laire, so I said Ariel in my head instead! They came from two completely different worlds, but to them, that didn’t matter.

Erik was a governor’s son, and came from a world of wealth and privilege. When Erik had to explain things in “his world” to Laire, he was always respectful, patient and kind. He was the perfect ‘prince’- swoon worthy.

Laire, a sweet and innocent fisherman’s daughter, came from a small island where her life was pretty much laid out for her. But like in The Little Mermaid, she wants more. *I totally picture Ariel singing Part of Your World here**

The connection between the two main characters could be seen from the start, and the love that lasted even through their time apart was beautiful. There were many times along the way that I wanted to knock their meddling family members on their heads though!

If you like modern day re-telling’s, Don’t Speak is one that you should add to your list. Grab yourself a copy and for a few hours, be a part of Katy Regnery’s world ;)
