Review: "A Chance at Forever," by K. B. Andrews
A Chance at Forever is the first book I have read by K.B Andrews. The story is told in dual POV and focuses mostly on the building romance between the two main characters.
The Hero in the story, Mason, was very caring, kind and sexy. At times, he seemed wiser that his young age of 19. He ran a business, was a complete gentleman and truly put Lennox’s happiness above his own. I thought that he was a well developed and likable character.
Our heroine, Lennox, was young, beautiful, and when it came to Mason, a bit feisty. The blurb said Lennox “had big dreams and would do anything to make them come true,” however that is not how she comes across in the story. To me, she doesn’t seem at all motivated to follow her dream. She mentions once that she wants to be a famous singer but is too scared to take a chance. The only reason she considers pursuing her dream, is because she is approached by a record label big wig one night at karaoke.
There were a few secondary characters that I felt added a bit of fun to the story but there was one character that didn’t work for me, and that was the main antagonist, Ashley. I felt as though she was very one-dimensional and just kind of thrown in there for a few different scenes to create a moment of angst.
There were situations within the novel that the characters acted rather dramatically (not giving spoilers) but I feel like their reactions were realistic and believable, seeing as they were ages 18 and 19. Although I did roll my eyes at the teenage dramatics, it made sense for the story.
Overall A Chance at Forever was a very cheesy and sweet love story, but it just lacked the ability to fully captivate me. When I reached the end, I was satisfied and didn’t feel the need to immediately get my hands on book 2.
