Review: "Addicted," by Alex Lucian
~*Book 4 in the "Tempting" series*~
If I had to describe “Addicted” in one word it would be HOT! Elias and Ruby's chemistry is electric! The story held my interest and I was finished in one sitting! I've only read one other novel from the "Tempting" series but this one can be read as a standalone- although I think I may just HAVE to read the others! Our heroine, Ruby, is a professional escort who is unashamed about what she does for a living. She is swimming in student debts and does it solely for the money. What I love about her character is that she is very intelligent, well educated and strong as well as beautiful. Our hero, Elias, exudes sex appeal and strength and has a dominating presence. He has a past that has broken him in many ways and torn apart his belief system. One thing he doesn't do is relationships. He favors escorts because they don't need anything from him emotionally; they have absolutely no expectations beyond sex. But after having Ruby once, he can't seem to get her out of his head. Once isn't enough with her. This story contains next to no angst at all. It is all about the building connection between Elias and Ruby. Although there is a lot of sex, it's just enough. Sometimes an erotic romance such as this can go overboard in the sex department- I know, I know, is that even possible? Yes, yes it is (I'm looking at you Fifty Shades). I’ve made this comparison before, but to me those novels can be compared to cheap porn- tons of sex with no real plot. This is not the case with “Addicted,” there is still enough story to keep you interested. The last two novels I read were quite emotional and angsty. It was a nice change to read something that didn't make my heart want to burst and my chest feel tight. I recommend Addicted to anyone looking to escape for a while into a romantic read with a whole lot of delicious sexiness. ;)
